Best Time to Elope to France
France is beautiful in every season, and the best time to elope really depends on the kind of experience you want. Most couples choose to elope between May and October to enjoy warm weather, glowing sunsets, and lush, blooming scenery.
For a quieter and more intimate celebration, consider planning your day outside the peak travel months of July and August, when tourism is at its highest.
Recommended Seasons for your Wedding in France
May to June and September to early October are ideal for eloping in France. You’ll enjoy mild, pleasant weather, beautiful natural colors, and fewer crowds in most regions, making your day feel relaxed and effortlessly romantic.
From the fragrant lavender fields of Provence to the timeless energy of Paris, these months bring glowing light, better availability for vendors, and just the right atmosphere to celebrate your love—whether you’re seeking serenity or city charm.

Meet your France Elopement Photographer
Hi, I’m Christina!
If not totally immersed into photographing amazing people, I’m usually in the Andes with my favorite horse Fiestero or backpacking around the world. I love getting lost in the vastness of untouched nature, accidentally discovering a surprising place or person, and having heart-to-heart conversations.
I started photography in 2009 and over time I specialized in taking unique and intimate portraits of people and their elopements.
Since then, my path has led me to many incredible people and their loved ones. I am spending the months between May and September in Europe, sharing my passion for photography and the unique jewels of this continent with the people who come to me.

FAQs about Eloping and Planning your Wedding in France
Why choose France for your elopement?
France is where effortless romance meets poetic charm—from dreamy lavender fields and fairytale châteaux to elegant vineyards and picturesque villages. Whether you’re drawn to the magic of Paris or the tranquility of the countryside, France offers an unforgettable setting for a deeply personal and beautifully styled celebration.
How far in advance should we book?
It’s best to book at least 6 months in advance to ensure availability and sufficient planning time.
Do you offer customized packages?
Yes, you can choose one of the above packages as your base package and adapt it to your needs with additional services.
Do you offer photo + video coverage for elopements in France?
Yes! I offer both photography and videography, beautifully capturing the story of your elopement in France. Whether you want full-day coverage or something short and sweet, I’ll tailor the experience to your needs.
Do we have to plan everything ourselves for our France elopement?
Not at all. Every France elopement package includes basic planning support—like location ideas for your ceremony and photos, plus suggestions for local vendors.
If you’d like more help, you can add planning support for booking or coordinating additional services. Whether you’re eloping just the two of you or with guests, you’ll never have to plan your elopement in France alone (unless you want to!).
Do you help with permits or local rules for elopements in France?
Yes—if a location requires a permit or has specific guidelines, I’ll help you figure it out or take care of it for you. I make sure every elopement in France respects nature, local customs, and any legal considerations.
Will you help us find a florist, makeup artist, or officiant?
Yes, I can give you vendor suggestions. You can also book a more comprehensive planning package for extensive support.
How long is a typical elopement day?
It depends on their preference, on average a lot of couples book between 8-12 hours, while an increasing number of couples book a multi-day elopement to capture their experience in more detail and have different sceneries & locations. If you want something short and sweet, 3-6 hours work well.
Can we include adventure activities in our elopement package?
Absolutely! Many couples choose to combine their wedding with activities like hiking, kayaking, horseback riding or even rappeling. We can customize your package to include the adventures you are dreaming about.
Can we bring our pet to our elopement in France?
Definitely! I love when couples include their furry companions. Just let me know early so I can recommend pet-friendly France elopement locations and accommodations.
Can we split our elopement day between multiple locations?
Yes—many couples love combining a mountaintop vow exchange with a sunset stroll through an old town or a private picnic by the sea. Eloping in France offers so much variety, and I’ll help you plan a timeline that lets you experience it all without stress.
Can we get legally married in France?
Yes, it’s possible to legally get married in France—but the process can be complex for foreigners. You’ll need documents like passports, birth certificates, and a certificate of no impediment, and everything must be translated and submitted in advance.
Because of this, many couples choose to legally marry at home and have a symbolic ceremony in France instead. This way, you get all the romance and magic of an Italian elopement—without the paperwork stress.
Can we still have a ceremony if we’re already legally married?
Absolutely. I strongly recommend doing the paperwork at home and enjoying a symbolic ceremony when you elope to France.
Is an elopement just the two of us? Can we bring guests?
A lot of the times it is only the couple. Depending on your chosen location and activities, you will be able to bring your loved ones along and we will plan accordingly.
What if the weather is bad on our elopement day? What if the weather is bad on our elopement day?
Weather in France can be unpredictable, but we always plan with flexibility. A little rain or mist can add magic, and I’ve captured some of the most emotional moments in dramatic conditions. That said, I usually keep a backup day available whenever possible, especially for mountain elopements or locations with fast-changing weather. We’ll adapt the timeline or location if needed, so your France elopement still feels effortless and beautiful.
What should we wear for our elopement in France?
Whatever makes you feel amazing —we’ll factor in the landscapes and season. I’ll also send tips tailored to your France elopement locations to help you feel confident and comfortable.
Can we include cultural or personal traditions in our ceremony?
Absolutely. Whether you want to include a handfasting, a wine ritual, or a meaningful cultural tradition, we’ll make sure your France elopement ceremony reflects who you are and what matters most to you.
